Stokes Bay Festival Day 1

Just got back from Day one of Stokes Bay Festival. The opening acts, local bands “The Reb” & “Big Brother Soul” were really good. Not so keen on “The Strange Death of Liberal England” – not my cup of tea really. Tonight’s headliners were “The Zutons” who played an excellent set.

The rain chucked it down tonight, glad I’m not sleeping under canvas this year.

Wimping out of camping out

I’ve decided – I’m not going to camp out. Yeah, I’m a wimp I really don’t fancy pitching my tent in a muddy field in the pouring rain (its been raining on and off for a week now) and spending 4 or 5 nights in the damp under canvas sleeping on an airbed when I can be in my own bed in the warm and dry.

I’m going to drive down Tomorrow, I may cycle down on some of the other days depending on the weather. Having said that though, my hybrid bike won’t be back fro the bike shop until next week, so it would mean taking the Brompton folding bike or the Giant mountain bike. Hmm, we’ll see.

Stokes Bay Festival

Looking forward to Stokes Bay Festival. Although I’ve got a “weekend plus camping” ticket, I’m still not 100% sure I’ll be camping (it is only a few miles away).

It really depends on the weather. Last year I took a tent, sleeping bag and the rest of my camping gear on my bicycle.

Ready for the off

This year I’m going to drive, partly because piloting the bike with that much luggage was hard work, partly because the chain is starting to slip and probably needs replacing, but mostly because I’m lazy

Oh, and if I do wimp out of camping, it will be less tiring driving home than cycling home each night.

Why would you want to drive/cycle home each night? I hear you ask, well last year I was off work for a week after the festival with a dreadful cold from camping out in the rain in a tent. The weather was dank and miserable last year, the forecast for Wednesday night looks unpleasant, hopefully it will improve through the weekend.
